I think "automatic step" is ideal hitting mechanics. Because it has much power despite compact. And it is suitable for marking high average constantly. Because it is so stable. In addition, it will bring a clear view in your Consciousness. Because that mechanics has ultimate simplicity.
Because of the reason given above, I describe below about mechanics of "automatic step".
The first, why it is called automatic step. The reason is that, step happens automatically in this mechanics. So why does step happen automatically? I describe below about reason of it.
Please remember the above experiment. Your leg pushed the ground when you try to accelerate your hands. And your body moves foward as a result of pushing ground with your leg.
Here is another experiment. Please stand with your feet about shoulder width. And move your body to the side of pitcher without lifting up your front-leg. Your front leg should be lifted up automatically in this experiment. Because your body movement led your front leg's movement. In this experiment, the relationship of body and leg is difference from the relationship of usual movement. "usual movement" means that, your body moves after lifted up your leg. But in this experiment, front leg was lifted up as a result of your body movement. Simply says that "body movement leads the leg movement".
Now, please remind the first experiment. Your body moves foward as a result of consciousness of trying to hit a punch. In the first experiment, you lifted up front leg before you try to hit a punch. So the next, please trying to hit a punch before you lift up the front leg. In other words, try to hit a punch from stance that is put your both legs on the ground. In this experiment, your front leg should be lifted up automatically before you hit a punch.
Why was front leg lifted up automatically? The answer is that your body(pelvis) moved foward as a result of try to hit a punch. So your front leg was lifted up as a result of movement of your body. This Chain reaction is indicated as follows.
(You are conscious to acceleration of your hand)→(Your legs produce the power)→(Your body moves foward)→(Front leg is lifted up as a result of body movement)
※) These events(consciousness&movements) are happen at the almost same time.
These reaction means time rag between consciousness(trying to accelerate a bat) and actual motion(Starting of swing in actually).
In a general idea, This time rag will be thought as an unnecessary factor. Because it's means that "your swing starts in actually after the time rag". In common sense of baseball, we want to start swing as soon as possible. Why would it be good that swing start after a few time rag?
But this time rag causes the "draw a bow movement". Because of this system, we can start our swing directly from hitting stance. In other words, this system provides the simpleness to our hitting mechanics. So this is rather very rational system of human movement.
As the above description, step and "draw a bow movement" are happen in automatically when you try to start the swing. So you need only to start the swing from your hitting stance. You can concentrate to hitting a ball in this hitting mechanics. You literally can concentrate to just one thing that "hit a ball with bat".
At any rate, step happens automatically when you try to accelerate your bat from hitting stance. This is an essential meaning of the word "automatic step".
Step, stride, load(draw a bow movement), hip rotation, weight shift... all of these are automatic movement taht happens when you try to accelerate your bat from hitting stance. So you need only to do just one thing that starting your swing from hitting stance.
For example, little fish can swim well with using their muscle. But they should not think about skills of swimming. This is similar to the mechanics of hitting. Baseball's batting is a kind of special movement like swimming of fish. Throwing and running are the same too. Basic movement of animals are in accordance with natural providence. So we don't need to think hard in the movement. We only need to concentrate just one thing that "what we want to do". In the batting of baseball, it means "hit hard"or "contact as premise for hitting hard".
At the end of this article, I emphasize the importance of "hitting hard".
If you swing slowly like a slow motion video. The automatic movements will not happen. Automatic movement happens only in the fast movement. Many animals have a system that they can move quickly without thinking hard. Because the brain works can not catch up with the physical movement.
Then, i will write in detail about mechanics of automatic step. For example, Why does your legs produces the power when you conscious trying to accelerate your hands. And Why is your body carried to the side of pitcher by power that is produced by your leg? I explain these issues the following.
When you try to accelerate your hands, your legs produce the force slightly faster than your hands. This is natural mechanics of human's body-movement. For example, when you try to push the wall with your hands, you will hold your body on there with your legs.(Photo) Because your legs produce the force automatically when you try to push the wall.
This phenomenon is easy to understand when you try to push the wall as possible as quickly with big power. At this time, you should feel the force from your both legs. This is the same as hitting mechanics. I must explain this mechanics to clarify your understanding.
Muscle has feature that called "silent-period". It means that muscle relaxes just a moment(split-second) before contraction. The long answer, Silent-period happens when you try to produce the big force suddenly without counter-movement (for example, squat down before jump). Especially, Suddenly, big force, and without counter-movement are important factors. And this is a mechanics of puncher type themselves.
It is important that silent period is unconscious relaxation. So it is different from usual relaxation. because silent period occurs as a result of consciousness that producing the power. And it is preparation for the explosive contraction of muscle.
Next, silent period has "left-right symmetry". This fact was confirmed by science experiments. For example, when you try to hit a punch with right hand, silent period happens also in your left hand.
The following description is my theory. Muscle contraction will occur in lower body when sillent period occurs in upper body. Because skeleton can't be Self-sustaining without muscle contraction. So, If some muscles relax, another muscles contract. This is a nature of our body for keeping a balance.
In summary, When you have consciousness of starting swing, silent period occurs in upper body and muscles of lower body contract.
Then, muscles of lower body contract at the same time as occurrence of sillent period in upper body. And contraction of muscle(in lower body) and silent period(in upper body) are occur in both left and right.
Muscles of lower body have to contract in left-right symmetry. Because that have to take a balance between sillent period of upper body that occurs in left-right symmetry.
In summary again, the following three events occur at the same time. (You have consciousness of starting swing.) (Silent period occurs in upper body.) (Muscles of lower body contract.)
In addition, this moment means that you decide to start your swing for hit a ball. So This moment can be said that "starting moments". Exactly, hitting mechanics start at this moment.
And this moment means that is in hitting stance. So position that hitting mechanics start from here can be said "starting position".
Here I set the terms.
● Start of hitting mechanics is said "start mechanics".
● Moment of "start mechanics" is said "starting moments".
● Position of "start mechanics" is said "starting position".
As described above, Silent period(upper body) and muscle contraction(lower body) occurs in a split-second at the same time, when you conscious of starting swing. And this "split-second" is the "starting moments". These definitions(start mechanics, starting moments, starting position) are important for understanding puncher type hitting mechanics.
Then, as I mentioned before silent period has "left-right symmetry". And lower body's muscle contraction occurs as a result of silent period. So this muscle contraction has "left-right symmetry" too.
Namely ,muscles of your both legs are in contraction, when you have consciousness of starting swing. And of course, this muscle contraction occurs in unconscious.
