Our hitting theory (1) Two types of hitting mechanics

Hitting mechanics is classified into two typs

"A" Weight shift and hip rotation lead the arm swing. (like a hammer throw)

"B" Swing leads weight shift and hip rotation. (like punching of boxing)

A and B are the opposite way.  In general, "A" takes more time until the swing than B.  starts to swing directly from launch position (hitting stance).  "A" needs to take a stride to prepare for swing.  In the way of B, the stride is automatic action.

TypeA hitters

Hank Aaron, Ted Williams, George Brett, Darryl Strawberry,
Tony Gwynn, Jesse Barfield,

※)A is classified into two types (Linear weight shift and rotational)

● Linear weightshift     Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, George Brett
● Rotational     Ted Williams, Tony Gwynn

TypeB hitters

Mark Macgwire, Albert Pujols, Adrian Beltre, Derek Jeter,
Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez, vladimir Guerrero,

※)B is classified by the movement of the step

● Automatic step (small step)   Jason Giambi, Albert Pujols, Adrian Beltre, Mike piazza,
● Two step   Michael Young, Derek Jetter,
● Lift up step   Alex Rodriguez, Manny Ramirez, Jose Bautiste,

Type"A" swing is dominated bottom hand.   But it is an automatic reaction, so you should not Conscious to use the bottom hand when you swings.
Type"B" swing is dominated top hand.   But it is an automatic reaction, so you should not Conscious to use the top hand when you swings.

The essence of the difference between A and B are the sensual.  TypeA, accelerates progressively from launch position.  TypeB, accelerates suddenly from launch position.

B accounts for an overwhelming majority in MLB last 20 years. Because typeB is compact and stable.  A and B are classified by the mechanics.   It is not classified by the difference in  power.

I call typeA hitting "swinger type".   I call typeB hitting  "puncher type".  These words are used in the classification method of golf.

What is essence of this classification method?   It is difference in mechanics of power production.  It means that ,There are two different ways by the two different mechanics.  It is not mean "one is good,  the other is no good.  It is only means that, the puncher type mechanics are adapted to the modern baseball.

The first experiment about power prodction teaches us the following facts.  Devoting to one of eachother mechanics is important.  If you try to the synthesis of the two mechanics, you can't product the big power.  "Which mechanics your chose" is provide a completely different on your hitting theory.

In the following pages,   I describes the thoery about puncher type method.
